Review of Orange County (2002) by Nat M — 01 Mar 2008
In my opinion, "Orange County" is one of the best "worst-case scenario" comedies ever made. Colin Hanks is brilliant as a student whose dreams are shattered by a rejection from Stanford, and in his quest to get an acceptance, his timing and facial expressions are priceless.
This movie was made before Jack Black became a total hack (rhyme!!!), and he is also hilarious. This movie is the perfect companion to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", because the protagonist is basically the opposite of Ferris and it's a great satire on the whole stupid college admissions process.
Most importantly, I think the soundtrack is really good, and I even have the CD in my car. Great driving music. If you've been through all the college bullshit, "Orange Country" is a great movie to watch once you're celebrating, especially if you didn't get into a first choice school.
