Review of One Christmas (1994) by Parker R — 26 Dec 2012
If you love Capote's Christmas stories, then you might also love this movie. It takes Sook five minutes of screen time to charge the rest of the movie with all the glittering magic of the love between her and little Buddy, concern for the other characters and tension over Buddy's fate.
Henry Winkler is surprisingly restrained and not annoying, except as is true to the character. The movie is much more Capote then Hallmark (I won't usually even consider Hallmark movies.) Very underrated.
A rare, complex Christmas movie, uplifting but also bittersweet.
