Review of Oasis of the Zombies (1982) by Wes S — 16 Apr 2013
Now here's a case of real disappointment on my part. Oasis of the Zombies (or as it's known on IMDB Treasure of the Living Dead) started out with a really captivating opening sequence that drew me into the film.
You received some information about where the film would be taking place and they don't show you anything in order to build up some suspense. Then they move on to a couple of characters who you want to know more about.
After that, the movie falls flat on its face. I will give them a little credit with the zombies. They were sort of creepy looking and reminded me more of the old voodoo zombies from films like I Walked With a Zombie.
The colors of the film were quite lush as well, even though the cinematography is complete garbage at times. It's a shame that this movie got boring so fast because it started out so well and would have made at least an effective horror film, even if it wasn't perfect.
Oh well. Can't with them all.
