Review of Nightmares in Red, White and Blue (2009) by Alyssa N — 02 Jan 2010
This is a fascinating documentary about how American horror movies can be viewed as a reflection of the cultural and political climate of the time. It's such an obviously true concept when you think about it, and I can't believe this movie wasn't made sooner.
This was also a rather ambitious film considering it covers so many decades in such a short time span, but it's surprisingly comprehensive and covers all the major films while still making time for some secondary ones.
The movie clips and interviews with horror film veterans are utilized perfectly here, sometimes to humorous effect, making the final product as entertaining as it is informative and recommended for any horror fan.
