Big fan of Herzog, not so big on Lynch, which pretty much sums up my opinion of the film. The characters and cinematography are all great, and typical Herzog. But when Lynch turns up the film slips and becomes unwelcoming.
They're both acclaimed directors and fans of either should see this, but I don't think it was the best team-up.
