Review of Monterey Pop (1968) by Matt B — 28 Nov 2009
A great document of an important cultural event in our country. The breakthrough performances of Jimi Hendrix and The Who, and really a huge moment in rock history, maybe even as much as Woodstock. The performance by Ravi Shankar at the end is worth watching the movie in itself.
It is amazing to watch him perform. I wish there was more behind the scenes or interviews with musicians and audience, but as a performance document this is top notch.
