Review of Mindhorn (2016) by Charlie H — 19 Jul 2017
Mindhorn tried and didn't completely fail to be the next Hot Fuzz. Some really funny moments amidst the silliness. The acting in Mindhorn is fantastic and drives the film's success. Julian Barratt leads with confidence and hilarity at every turn.
Much of the humour subverts audience expectations which is really refreshing to see in a new comedy. A few clichés detract only a little. At no point does Mindhorn take itself seriously. The plot twists are silly; some were a little too silly for me, but entertaining as hell.
Mindhorn's script is punchy and the editing & shooting are largely impressive. Doesn't make a huge splash, but entertaining nonetheless.
