Review of Microcosmos (1996) by Terri H — 17 Apr 2009
How good is this film? It's a brilliant documentary of insects going about their business but without any commentary so you're left to guess what the little critters are up to. Hours of fun!
The visuals are a treat and the music's nice too... one to put yourself to sleep with at the end of a hard day! If you turn the sound town on your TV the film also seems to work a treat as images to enjoy with most sorts of music!
I've watched this many times and never get bored with it... I'm no closer to really working out what the insects are or why they are doing what they are but what the heck!!!
Best insect award goes to the dung beetle type thing pushing a ball of poo along and getting it wedged on a thorn. I'd never thought I'd ever live to see a pissed off dung beetle so that's one more thing crossed off my to-do list!
