Review of Mi America (2015) by Rahul P — 12 Oct 2015
I saw an early private screening of this last year and it was among the best movies I saw last year. A movie that speaks about corruption in this country involving racism and a hate crime and does so with no holds barred.
The subtly powerful cinematography drives the detailed plot which is top notch. The story is a slow burn but the screenplay was tight and engaging with a satisfying ending. The cast was all top notch.
Robert Fontaine Jr (who also beautifully directs) deftly plays his lead character Roe and other standouts include Michael Brainard who is fully invested in his role as well as Joshua Cameron who impresses in limited time as young Roe.
This film needs to be released wide for the public to see filmmaking at its finest in the same vein of Clint Eastwood's Mystic River.
