Review of Manufactured Landscapes (2006) by David Ray G — 30 Jun 2008
Extraordinarily bleak documentary, following canadian photographer ed burtynsky as he explores manufactured landscapes in china. from mass production factories for electronic goods, to the graveyard of recyled consumer waste.
from the ship yards, to the ship wreckes. leads to some absolutely stunning photography, but how they got there is as depressing as hell. the soundtrack is carefully matched to the scene, ranging from minimal electronics, piano soundtrack, to japanese hard rock.
