From the trailer I was expecting a gentle "aw, cute old fatty couple" comedy. It was rather more interesting than that, and a lot funnier. The oddballs Gerard Depardieu meets on his road trip come so thick and fast the whole thing takes on a hallucinatory quality even without the apparitions of bloodied "lost love" Isabelle Adjani.
Depardieu is just brilliant as the stoically dogged "Mammuth" in search of his pay slips â?¦ and a path for his shopping trolley through two cars.
