Review of Little Murders (1971) by Louis J — 17 Jun 2008
One of the darkest, most cynical pictures I've sen in a long time. Huge, outrageous monologues are everywhere. Traditional values are eviserated, marriage is pummelled, and society is revealed as cruel, stupid and animal.
But it's so goddamned funny, you hardly mind. My favorite scene was a judge who lectured the young couple about the importance of god, and in his rambling speech, the occupation of his poor suffering, religious father and the address of the house he grew up in change every thirty seconds or so, but the judge's hack conviction never flags.
Cuts through a lot of bullshit, and full of great quotes. The end is not what you will expect it to be no matter what you expect. This is just screaming to be a cult classic.
