Review of Lake of Fire (2006) by Richard S — 12 Mar 2008
Although it is a tad long, Kaye's documentary may very well be the best film produced on this oh so controversial subject. It's refreshing to find a director who lets the crazy people (on both sides) show you just how out of touch they are. I have an inkling about his stance on the subject, but there's a good deal of objectivity. If anything, he prompts a thoughtful discussion of an issue that is far too often an invitation for incomprehensible ranting.
Not that I'll ever be an authority on the subject, but it's too bad that most people can't let go of their moral hangups and impossible inquiries and accept the fact that abortions will take place regardless of their legality. It's in society's best interest to provide safe, regulated facilities so that countless women (who are indisputably "HUMAN") don't face the certain death that is impossibly intertwined with illicit abortion.
