Review of Lacombe, Lucien (1974) by Luciano F — 24 Jun 2007
A film about the gestapo and the french resistance that doubles as a film about the need to belong. Seventeen year old Lucien Lacombe wants to join the resistance, but gets rejected by his former schoolmaster, so he joins the gestapo.
He then begins to court the daughter of a jewish tailor. His character is an enigma, he seems emotionally undefined throughout most of the film. He seems pushy at first but then simply wants to be accepted in the family.
Great Film.
