Review of Julieta (2016) by Hugo G — 03 Aug 2016
7.6/10.
Pedro Almodovar is one of the finest directors in cinema, his movies have a very unique style that you can identify and stories that are about ordinary people. And so even though this movie isn't his best, it still was pretty good. From its performances to its script, it was quite simple yet complex in human levels. What I understood as its main subject was grief, and how people handle it in different ways, but also guilt. It showed how all these people and the different timeless connected everyone in those subjects and in more personal levels. The movie was very interesting and just what you would expect from Almodovar, but without too much comedic moments. Therefore, I really enjoyed the movie and is a must watch for Almodovar fans.
