Review of Jindabyne (2006) by Brandon S — 02 Jan 2008
The soundtrack just won't stop, and this more than anything brings my rating down. Most of the time it's insanely distracting - it just refuses to let the actors, cinematography, and script do the talking.
We don't need spooky music to tell us something's spooky. Aside from this complaint, the rest of the movie is positively haunting, with subdued but superb performances, a real solid story, and characters that are absolutely fascinating in their interactions together.
It's a powerful film about the differences between men and women, young and old, and everything in between.
