Review of In Old Chicago (1938) by Irish E — 18 Jun 2010
In Old Chicago was good for a minimum of a one time viewing. For the most part, it was ok. The last 20 minutes or so was really tense and dramatic.
Tyrone Power played crooked gambler, businessman, thief, and all around bad guy, Dion O'Leary. I have no idea what Alice Faye, as Belle Fawcett, ever saw in him.
Don Ameche was the good son and lawyer, Jack O'Leary.
Andy Devine stood out in a small but important role as Pickle Bixby.
It was a pretty good drama about the family that owned the legendary cow that started the great Chicago fire.
