Review of Hidden Diary (2009) by Ce G — 15 Jun 2010
How can you miss when my sweetie, Catherine Deneuve, is in the movie? A taut mystery as Deneuve plays an emotionally ice cold woman who has not gotten over the mystery of her mother leaving the family while she was only a child.
Deneuve's adult daughter returns to the family home and rediscovers a hidden diary left by the missing woman and uncovers secrets that Deneuve would prefer not to relive. Beautifully acted as tension fills the air of people who have closed off their emotional self from others but cracks soon begin to appear.
A film of nostalgia, broken dreams, fantasized pasts and the loss of trust.
