Review of Heckler (2007) by Pj E — 16 Apr 2009
Despite a subject matter that sometimes makes the film excrutiatingly painful to watch, "Heckler" is not only a chance for performers to respond to critics but also an important study in criticism itself, i.
E. the disturbing movement from constructive criticism to outright hostility. With plentiful interviews with performers of various fields of entertainment (Christopher Hitchins and Carrot Top in the same movie? WHA?!), it's both illuminating and essential, and brings into question the purpose of entertainment itself.
And as terrible as Uwe Boll is, it's very satisfying to watch him literally beat critics to the point of puking.
