Review of Hannah Takes the Stairs (2007) by Jeff G — 23 Apr 2008
This is one of the more accessable mumblecore film. which at this point is like watching a friends home videos edited to try and make a story out of random conversations. This film which tries to play like a modern day romantic comedy.
this seems to be played without the romance. the lead greta gerwig is beautiful and talented and this film is a great showcase for her but I felt like watching her character was so vain and unsatisfied in life that she practically tortures the male characters by finding something she loves about them and hopes it rubs off on her but soon tires of them by comparing herself to them and is constantly disappointed.
so she moves on to the next guy. watching this film play I had my own interpretation of it as a emotional vampire film as we watch her move onto the next vitim while you scream for them to run.
