Review of Greaser's Palace (1972) by Michael D — 27 Feb 2008
Undoubtedly one of the most bizarre American movies ever made (and directed by Robert Downey Snr. no less), 'Greaser's Palace definitely bears a debt to 'El Topo' but even if it's not exactly 100% original it's still a 'mighty fine' way to spend 90 minutes and there is plenty here to amuse.
Amidst the utterly fucked up goings-on, the dialogue is funny and there are some great one-liners. I'm not sure there is anything deeper beneath the surface weirdness but I enjoyed the ride all the same and arbis and the crotchety old irish guy are great. If you like weird shit then you will probably like this.
