Review of Grand Prix (1966) by Ryan H — 15 Jul 2007
An absolutely stunning film that offers a truly accurate glimpse of Formula 1's golden era. The era where death and injury occurred regularly and when drivers were swashbuckling heroes daringly cheating death on a daily basis.
Each of the characters (the drivers, at least) seem to parallel real-life drivers like John Surtees or Phil Hill or Jimmy Clark. Only adding to the film's credibility are the cameos by double and triple world champions Graham Hill and Jack Brabham (not to mention American world champion Phil Hill).
