Review of Good Dick (2008) by Ásgeir J — 21 Feb 2009
A really wonderful film that I simply can't say enough good things about. It's so sweet yet at the same time so harsh considering the main characters and their lives. Marianna Palka is simply stunning as a socially phobic, anti-social woman with deep issues and she portrays the character so well and never ever over the top Hollywood style. This is such a bizarre story that it seems real and it's so simple but complicated at the same time. It's a story that lets you take care of the details and simply focuses on the important parts. The parts that truly matter, there's not a single meaningless scene, cut, or sentence in this film and people will be able to relate to it so easily because it doesn't feed you any unneeded details or filler material and thus every viewer will take home a different meaning or a different back story.
I can only hope and wait to see any more of Marianna Palka's work. Preferably sooner than later!
