Review of Goké, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968) by Alex B — 13 May 2013
One bizarre, ridiculous, stupid thing after another happens to a bunch of bizarre, ridiculous, stupid characters. But is this film at all plausibly anti-war, as it sort of pretends to be? We should ask what such film-makers/producers are really frightened of, what they think their audience should be frightened of.
And keep in mind that baroque style is typically counter-revolutionary, and Cold War monster movies are typically anti-communist.
