If you're looking for a thoughtful exploration or explanation of Haiti's political and social problems, look elsewhere. This film, however, is a highly stylized (though not in a bad way) look at gangs in the slums outside of Port-au-Prince.

The film is better if you understand the issues at hand already an are seeking a personal look at the situation. The characters and circumstances are kind of unbelievable, yet believing, sickening and depressing if you realize what's really happening to them, their city, and their country.

There is a French aid worker who I find a bit suspect for getting romantically involved with one of the gang leaders (I suspect she could use her own documentary), but overall, the stories are heartbreaking and raw.
