Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Mai O — 18 Mar 2009
This film heavily influenced the creation of well-known film "Matrix." Motoko, a cyborg who works in a government agency, examines what makes human a human. If our bodies can be modified to such an extent, are we still human-beings? If so, what makes us human, is it our memories? But our memories can also be altered.
Would it be our "soul(ghost)"? Then can we exist outside our body and still be us? Stunning imagery, music, and deeply emotionally moving. Captivating and intelligent.
