Review of Gerry (2002) by Megan C — 11 Jun 2007
A part of Van Sant's Death Trilogy, Matt Damon and Casey Affleck are brilliant in this isolated film. Stranded, marooned (on a rock!) the two friends find themselves in the desert without the bare essentials to survive.
Mostly unscripted, the improvisation between the two actors is realistically entertaining yet heart wrenching when called for. Van Sant's still shots only add to the powerful emotions already expressed throughout the film.
