Review of Erskineville Kings (1999) by Private U — 01 Dec 2007

This is a little known Aussie movie with Hugh Jackman, before he went to America and started making crap. He is excellent as Wace. While the unfolding of the story between the two brothers is very well done, what I most like watching this movie are all the shots of the old inner areas of Sydney, and especially the empty family home Barky goes back to, all in the extreme heat of summer with a simple acoustic soundtrack.

For anyone who has grown up in an Australian City it is all very familiar...it's as if you have walked down those streets yourself.
