Review of Equus (1977) by Lilac L — 30 Apr 2010
This film is based on the celebrated play by Peter Shaffer. I've not seen the play but after watching this film I would very much like to see it. Burton is on top form as is Firth. It's an excellent view into the mind and certainly one of Burton's better films in his later career.
All the supporting cast, especially Blakely as Alan Strang's father is very restrained. The film does make for uncomfortable viewing but that's the whole point of the play.
