Review of Election 2 (2006) by Nadeem M — 29 Oct 2007
Really enjoyed this follow-up to the first film. It isn't as frentic or fast-paced this time around, and the score is fantastic - it really carries the film along and gives the film lots of atmosphere.
When the violence comes, it's pretty brutal, but is by no means distastefully done, compared to some films. I believe there won't be a third film, which may be a good thing, as the third film in trilogies is very often one film too many.
Nonetheless, these two films are an example of the excellent cinema Hong Kong consistently churns out and are both a joy to watch if you want to see something different.
