Review of El Topo (1970) by Edward W — 05 Jan 2008
Technically I haven't seen the entire second half of this movie, because the DVD is scratched and got impossible to watch around then.
That said, this movie is going to be on there, and very soon. Surreal, bizarre, meaningful. It is lush with meaning; if you can let go of your desire for things to "make sense" and just follow the mood, it will click, and it will change you.
Interesting trivia: I read somewhere that this was John Lennon's all-time favorite film. Go figure.
