Review of El Dorado (1966) by Joe H — 20 Jul 2010
Still one of my all time favorite Westerns (and has been since I was a kid), "El Dorado" is a perfect blend of drama and gunslinger entertainment with a dash of very well written comedy. James Caan and his buckshot gun alone are funny enough, but add in some great feuding-friend interactions between John Wayne and Robert Mitchum and you've got some great comedic scenes.
But at the same time, the movie successfully pulls of a serious atmosphere from time-to-time. Just really superb writing and acting and a fun score by Nelson Riddle with a very catchy theme.
