Review of Dracula (1958) by Stuart Y — 01 Nov 2013
AKA The Horror of Dracula in the US.
I saw this at the cinema a couple of years ago on Halloween, and it still holds up as a great classic horror movie.
Thereâ??s no unnecessary scenes to pad out the running time, this cuts straight through to the story, with Hellsing played by the brilliant actor Peter Cushing, in pursuit of Count Dracula, played by Christopher Lee, who was basically born to play Dracula, just as Jeremy Brett was born to play Sherlock Holmes.
There is nothing hammy about Hammerâ??s Dracula, this is the best adaptation of the classic novel, if youâ??ve not seen it, go rent it, or buy it, you wonâ??t be disappointed.
