Review of Dead Silence (1991) by Bobby L — 22 Nov 2009
While I am never really scared by any part of this movie, I think it's one of the most visually stylish and neat horror films in recent histroy. As with Stay, although that one is a stronger overall film, the reason for my love is the visual.
The scene where he starts in his apartment, getting ready to drive to his hometown, he then pass over a map, with a pair of lights moving upward on it, which become his car and the forest he is in, and then when he passes the sign for the town at the bridged entrance, if you look in the painted picture on the sign, you see him driving on the bridge in the picture.
There are more examples, but also, the acting is pretty good for what it is, even though it's not a particularly original plot.
