Review of Danika (2006) by Patrick D — 05 Jun 2009
Danika is kind of like a bottle of warm beer (High Life, perhaps). It is bitter, hard to swallow, and in the end, a waste of time. That's not to say its without merit. The premise was decent enough, although in complete and humble honesty, I had the "twist" down within the first 20 seconds, without even thinking about it.
The plot took several tiring film cliches (premonitions, accidents before they happen, Hitchcock-type macguffins) and mixed them into something seemingly fresh, until the 10 minute mark. The acting is atrociously awful from everyone, sans Fresh Prince's uncle, and the ending is so bad it hurts, literally.
Overall, skip Danika and watch something better, like Phat Girlz or a Tyler Perry film.
