Review of Danika (2006) by Val L — 08 Sep 2007
One of those psychological thrillers that spends its entire running time trying to mess with the viewer's mind... but instead ends up making little sense and becoming unsatisfying. The twist ending seems tacked on and doesn't really explain much of the preceding events, causing the film to lack focus and coherence since not all the plot threads are tied together.
However, on the positive side, Marisa Tomei gives a terrific performance as the mother losing who grip on reality, and fans of her should definitely check this film out if only to see her terrific display of acting skills.
All in all, it tries very hard to be a mind-bending psycho thriller, but instead just ends up being a jumbled mess.
