Review of Clerks II (2006) by Mike S — 25 Jan 2010
This is exactly the kind of film I really enjoy. Dialogue and character based and a welcome return of the characters from the excellent first movie.
Kevin Smith has made a number of thoroughly enjoyable films but Clerks has always been a stand out favourite of mine. I watched this when first released but decided to give it another airing and found it just as good as first time. Maybe it helps that I've grown up at around the same rate as the characters but this is certainly a sequel worth watching.
I suppose in a way it's a coming of age movie that gives old bastards like me a second chance. In the past, 'coming of age' meant leaving High School, going away to college or a summer that seemed to last forever. Clerks II shows that you can be in your thirties and still have that life-changing experience that you'll remember forever . . . even if it is a donkey-sex-show.
Thoroughly enjoyable.
