Review of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) by Garrett C — 21 May 2011
I generally would never give a musical five stars..but this is too ridiculously brilliant. The Sherman Bros songs are what make the film, they show a wit that matches the writings of Cole Porter. Dick Van Dike and Lionel Jeffries play the insane men of the "Potts" family (Caractacus Potts = Crack Pot.
Gotta love Ian Fleming joke names) The only thing I would change is the runtime, it could have been drastically cut in several areas, but it doesn't handicap the enjoyment the film brings.
