Review of Chameli (2003) by Mike C — 09 Mar 2008
It seems I like this movie a bit more than most people. Yes, the streets probably aren't filled with prostitutes who look like Kareena Kapoor but the far-too-attractive hooker is pretty much an institution in film.
Plus, she was fantastic (Rahul Bose was too for that matter.) As for the movie itself, I found it thoroughly involving. It was sort of a blend of the Hitchockian "ordinary man caught in extraordinary circumstances," It Happened One Night, and Mamma Roma.
