Review of Cemetery Man (1994) by Burton — 28 Jul 2007
Holy crap this movie is beautiful. It has quickly gone from being "Some Michele Soavi movie I saw a year ago" to one of my favorite movies ever. The characters are phenomenal. The story is great. It has the perfect balance of humor, drama, and of course zombies. Soavi is definitely the appropriate successor to Mario Bava and Dario Argento when it comes to visually mind blowing stylish Italian horror movies.
Oh, and Rupert Everett is wonderful as a straight man. Who lives in a cemetery with his retard assistant, killing zombies, and being generally depressed about having killed the first woman he's ever loved.
This movie takes you on quite a ride, from laughter, to frights, to tragedy.
