Review of Bra Boys (2007) by Keith M — 09 Aug 2007
Still the most powerful film I've see all year. There are way too many mediocre documentaries coming out these days, but this is a story that is totally fascinating and presented, for me, new ways of looking at so many issues.
The overriding thing that struck me was the way it portrays people?s attachment to physical places. Not in a way that is dictated by religion or arbitrary borders, but through personal experience. Rusty's narration adds heaps of weight because he's obviously a guy that understands the vibe.
It?s pretty crudely made (lots of home video and pretty average editing/production) but it doesn't get in the way. Just means you should probably wait for the DVD.
