Review of Black (2005) by Brenda Z — 28 Mar 2008
I am speechless... but at time I have so much to say: This dramatic movie has made me cry and it has a good plot. Black is based on a deaf-blind girl (Rani, Michelle in the movie) who was lost in darkness and treated like an animal during her first 8 years of childhood. One day, an alcohol professor (who knew sign language due to the fact that he had a daughter with the same problem) taught Michelle ASL and meaning of life, despite of her situation.
18 yrs passed and he started having Alzheimer problems, so he went to an asylum and Michelle had to continue with her life in her own. She graduated from a prestigious university and her life was full of success, but her professor had to start over with remembering every single thing she taught... until his last days.
Rani definitely played a good character, I even believed myself that she was blind. However, the only thing I didn't like about this was the scene where she kisses her professor...that was akwward.
