Review of Bellflower (2011) by Caleb M — 24 Sep 2011
Bellflower is the kind of independent American film that inspires you to find other movie nerds and merge all your craziest/best ideas together to make a movie of your own.
Swaying between melancholic aimlessness, tender romance, and bleak poeticism, Bellflower consistently exceeded my expectations. The imagery is startlingly beautiful as well: gritty, soft, dirty and scorchingly hot, it evokes the hand-made feeling of not only the main characters' apocalyptic projects, but the film itself. A beautiful, funny, tender and surprising look a masculinity, friendship, and the bizarre roads life can lead you down.
