Review of Bad Girl (1931) by Christine R — 07 Mar 2012
Interesting movie, though nothing to BLOIWN AWAY BY. This movie won best durector and best adapted screenplay at thw 1931 Oscars, which is very hard to believe judging by what we see here. It's a very simple story, Guy meets girl, get married quickly, have a kid, wonder if they can afford it, etc.
but everything seems just a wee bit too sugarcoated and pat that the whole thing seems hardly believable. The only thing worth watching for is the amazing slice of early 30's New York, were all the guys using "see" after every sentence and treating women like dirt? Some clever camerawork in the beginning, but that's it;.
