Review of Backbeat (1994) by Carl M — 09 Oct 2008
Pretty good, if not totally accurate account of the Beatles time in Hamburg. I think they portrayed Paul as a bit of a dick, and John too angry.
Some of the inaccuracies are as simple as the fact that John sings "Long Tall Sally" in this movie. He never sang lead. Paul always did. Also, Stuart died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, not in Astrid's arms. She was at work and got a call from her mother to come home. I guess you really can take liberties in Hollywood.
