Review of Alone in the Wilderness (2004) by Tommy H — 30 Mar 2015
This is a great movie for fans of nature and do-it-yourself documentaries. It's about a guy named Dick who lived in the woods for a long time. He arrived with a video camera, a pile of logs he cut last spring and just the bare essentials.
For his tools he didn't even bring the handles. The man really knows what he's doing. And on top of being skilled, he's also a good poet. And the narrator has a very soothing voice. He reminds me of the kind of voice you'd hear in virtually all mountain men and bigfoot movies from the 70's.
The Legend of Boggy Creek, Grizzly Adams, Buffalo Rider, and so on. The whole movie is like mediation. It makes me feel like I'm reading an old book instead of watching a 2005 movie. I actually had no idea it was so recent, although I'm sure the footage is much older.
