Review of Alive Inside (2014) by Deb B — 19 Jul 2014
Rarely, if ever, does one film have the ability to profoundly change the lives of millions of people. This moving documentary leads the audience through the lives of people living with various forms of dementia and other mental and physical health challenges. This film tells the story of the powerful effects that listening to the music of their earlier years can have on their lives and on the lives of those around them. In addition to the stories of several individuals it is punctuated by commentary from neurologist Oliver Sacks and other leading professionals on how the brain is wired to link music to memories.
By the end of the film there was not a dry eye in the theater- the audience was clearly moved by the stories that were beautifully conveyed.
