Review of 1945 (2017) by Mary O — 03 Dec 2017
Very deep, moving, involving film. Played in los Angeles by the most daring distributor of subtitles, the Leammle theaters. Again, this serious story fascinates.
Basic msg was :" no one wins"..
From wars, from any war's left-overs ( these are not " Spoils" ) and the complications of 'who didn't have much before' and then got some .... even tho even these working class Hungarians were not the victors or thieves, but finally " got some" too.
While the not-seen Nazi brutalizers are never even mentioned, but secretly implied, so thus are left unaccused.
Thought-provoking images, limited words, with mostly emotions and behaviors tell viewers to review what we thought we knew before . The viewer will leave film with realizations not previously considered.
Excellent !
