Review of Went the Day Well? (1942) by Sergio M — 13 Jul 2010
I only chose to watch this because the guardian gave it 5 stars, and I thought, well, any film capable of getting a 5 star review is worth watching. I wasn't very convinced during the first 5-10 minutes, thought it was going to be a bit too twee for me.
but then, oh. the plot starts developing and it gets really really good!! quite dark, full of action, and the best thing is they just don't stop at anything: a kid gets shot, a grannie axes a nazi officer.
... yes, A GRANNIE AXES A NAZI OFFICER!! any film that has a grannie with an axe is bound to be a good one, isn't it? it's not gore at all, almost no blood or anything but they still get away with it! a great surprise, so glad I decided to watch this.
sometimes reviewers are right!
