Review of Waveriders (2008) by Sergio E — 04 Oct 2010
I've loved surfing movies since I was a little girl so this film was a great fit for me. Not only does it take an interesting look at Irish surfing, it also examines the life of George Freeth, the Irish/Hawaiian who not only was an amazing swimmer and surfer but transformed lifeguarding.
It's wonderful to just stare at the big waves but the film also does a good job of examining the Ireland's role in the surfing phenomenon. Definitely got me pumped for my surfing lessons next month.
